Is it time to close out GM Business Mastercard or should we wait and see?

Well just got the email from GM Business Mastercard

And they keeping the points program the same way, expect with the change to 7% on GM purcahses

I hate Barclays they were the worst for my personal credit, in which they gave me a $5k SL and I did a BT of $2,300 on that card. At the time I also had applied for other cards to move around debt. Barclays is infamous for rechecking credit and when they did on me, slashed my credit line to $2,350. That changed my threshold to maxed out and a credit score drop in the 20s because of this. I was happy when Wells took over the choice card.

I stopped using my GM card since I have over $250 pts that will never be used to Purcahse a GM car, service or accessories. I cant even get oil or auto parts that maybe I could use for my german car with these points.

I want to keep the card for my business credit but now that Barlcays has taken it over, I know they will screw it up and I do expect them to slash credit lines. I currently have a $35k CL, I expect that to be slashed.

Perhaps the proclamation of "exciting changes" is... misdirected, and misunderstood.  As someone who is also no fan of Barclays, I take it to mean exciting for Goldman Sachs being they're no longer involved.

I suppose you could just hang on to it, and see what happens, you know... for science. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I too hate Barclays.

But I don't imagine there's any harm in just letting it play out and seeing how it goes.

Going to let it play out here as well.

Though, I might be interested in another Barclays biz card and this might get my foot in the door with the change over.

For me, it cant be much worse since GM has declined every cli request in the last 2 years. Maybe I can at least get a cli out of Barclays.

Guess time will tell.

We're all in agreement... Barclay sucks...

The business card won't be changed over until the end of the year. That gives us business card holders to see how the switch with personal cards goes. I like my Marcus card and use it often. But as Confucius said... "The only thing permanent, is change"...

You are not the only one that has been declined all my requests earned me zero lol. I would expect Barclays to cut CL, they will go straight to see where they can get less risk. Yes we all see what happens with this card when they do take it over

The good news is they cant take me down much lower without closing it. I've been stuck at $1k with that card for 2 years. I have even made sure to use 95% of the limit and pif every time to trigger something and still nothing. Lol

My hopes are hi for a cli after transition,  but my expectations are low to compensate. 😉

I've had the personal card for over 9 years now, and the business card for almost 3 years. My personal card has been stuck at $700 SL the whole time, and my business card hasn't budged from $2.5k SL. I'm hoping that the move to Barclays will give me the opportunity to increase. Also, I think they're increasing the earning rate on the business card to 3x on everything, plus the increased earnings w/ purchases through GM, so maybe an improvement?
