So...I said I would cool my jets on business cards last month, but here we are lol. With another $6K+ inventory order needing to be placed soon, I felt like it would be a waste to put that on either BBP. However, I do legitly need to cool down with Chase and Amex, so the friend who now guides my card strategy recommended going for this one considering its SUB and my TU inq status.

I was kind of concerned with the SL prospects given that I hold a Cash+ that started at $500 and has only grown to $2K, but turns out there was nothing to worry about.

This was on the longer side of online approvals, the thing spun for quite a while, but at least it did not go to manual underwriting - my student loan history might give a human underwriter a heart attack.

US Bank did not tell me the APR at approval time so I'll have to add it in later and did not provide a virtual card number. I'm pretty sure personal and business are also separate logins, which is annoying on iphones since you can't (normally) have 2 separate installations of the same app.

The card categories I'll use are 3% on gas ($200 cap per transaction), restaurants, and office supply stores. These are great options for a no annual fee card. There's also a $100 credit for your bookkeeping software...HOWEVER...it goes by MCC and you have to make 11 cycle payments first. The other fine print caveat for this card is your cash back expires if it goes dormant for 12 consecutive statements so redeem it before a period of inactivity. I don't let any of my cards go truly dormant, so I'm not worried about that.

Other notes:

- No point loss for the HP as usual for me. The rules are different on dirty scorecards vs clean ones. 8/9 of my HPs have come with no score impact.

- This card comes with a 0% balance transfer offer during the first month and does not report to personal credit. If you need to hide debt from personal and are given a healthy limit here, it would be an excellent choice. Issuers who pull your business reports will still know where the debt went...but the others won't!

- I received quite a few mailers with offers for this card, but didn't figure I'd ever be going for it and didn't save a pre-approval. Ended up applying cold.

- It is possible that US Bank pulls FICO 9 now. I don't have access to that score currently. What CRA they pull will also vary with your state.

- I don't live anywhere near US Bank's service footprint. This doesn't matter for their credit cards and once you have a card, you can bypass the geofence for their deposit accounts.

- I also wouldn't really consider my past checking account a "relationship" given that I only ever used it to receive my cash back from the Cash+ and then send it onwards. They probably lost money maintaining the account and were happy that I closed it!   That said, now that I have a business card, getting actual cash redemptions requires a checking account again and their business ones can be had for no monthy fee...then I could re-open the personal one since having the business one waives the fee there too.  Getting a small headache thinking about US Bank's rules, though lol.

Congratulations @DXness on the Triple Cash Approval!  Thanks for your last paragraph regarding USB credit card + business checking account setups.  I've been considering your exact same scenario and had come to similar conclusions - glad to see someone else arriving at it as well. Smiley Very Happy

@DXness Congrats on the new card! Using the app is fine. You can still log in, just need to register and create different login credentials for your business account.
