After reading through a number of experiences on this forum and others I almost made a huge mistake. I forgot that I applied with them about 10 days ago and hadn't heard anything from them. Today, I get a call saying they've considered my application and would be happy to offer me a secure card at $500 for 12 months and then i can request deposit be returned.
After all the nightmare experiences and fees they charge i politely declined. Seems like WEX has taken over a good portion of fuel cards and are the gate keepers. Problem is customer service is horrible, application process is all over the place and no one knows whats going on. If dealing with WEX is the only option, I'd rather not get any other fuel cards
Never heard of Wex. Is it a bank? A gas station chain?

I'm guessing it's a credit card you can provide employees that only fuel can be charged to? Unlike, say, a bp card, you can use it at different brand stations. Does it compete with fuelman?

Wex manages a lot of business fuel mastercards. Just to name a few they manage: Shell, Exxon/mobil, 7-11, texaco/chevron, circle k, citgo, dk, gulf... and many more...
I'll never get another wex managed card again. They silently slipped in $75 monthly fees after my first year with them and got me for $300 before I noticed and after I terminated the card, they hit me for another $75, bringing it to $375, they got me for.
Finally done with them and won't go back. I only spent $45 to $125 per month and pif. So that added $75 in fees was just crazy....

In the past I've had similar issues when WEX took over a few gas cards one of my LLC's had and then WEX closed those account for seemingly no reason. I started a new business about a year ago and app'd for a Sheetz gas revolver and was instantly approved with no fees. So far I haven't had any issues with this card or WEX, and I'm hoping it stays that way.
My Mobile 1 gas card had a $30K SL, but when Wex took it over in 2022, they slashed the line down to $1,500. I was able to get it back to $10k and than I applied for a Shell Gas that Wex was also maanging and they give a credit line of $82.5k? Talk about bi-polar
When the Mobile 1 card was going to get upgraded to use the Mastercard network for Auto Business use, I was excited since I had a large repair bill coming and 10% cash back. They dropped the ball since it took them over 2 months to deliever my card and it was a week after I had paid for my repair on another card. They called up for feedback if I used the Mobile 1 card and I let them have it that customer service is hard to reach at times and subpar and my card didnt arrive as needed and I missed out on the 10% cash back for a repair I wanted to use it on.
Other than that those issues, the cards havent been good and since Wex is managing both my Mobile and Shell gas card, I was able to spilt the CL from the Shell card over to the Mobile one to give it more credit.
Ive never received any shady fees or fees that I am unaware of, I stopped using the cards though as I was getting better deals with Tmobile Tuesday for Shell and shopping at Safeway for Mobile for personal
500% they have ruined everything.
frankly I can't believe there isn't a class action lawsuit against them for the ba they pull with insanity late fees, no auto pay, etc... the list goes on.
i closed my Sinclair after I realized the fees.
I applied for wax a few times and it was really hard to get any decision from them as they would never tell me if I was approved if I was declined or like whatever. So I worked on establishing more credit and I went back to them and reapplied and I finally found a representative to help me and he got my account approved for $6,000.

Everyone else was trying to do you a favor by not giving you a card now you made the most epic worst decision in your business credit history by getting a card with WEx!!!
I have to give an update I dont use my Wex cards anymore, due to some Business cards having better cashback with gas. My wex Chevron card was turned into a mastercard where I was told I could use at auto shops, auto stores, etc It got declined when I tried to pay for an oil change on my card. Wasnt expecting it to go through because they just seem so all over the place. Havent called and wont, will just sock drawer my shell and chevron gas cards.
