Hi gang!! Out of curiousity, I decided to see if I had any offers on Cap One site. Turns out, I was pre qualified for the QS Visa, Venture, and the Prestige card. I decide to speak to someone via chat and the gentleman tells me I have no offers on my account at the moment (I 'm currently enrolled in the Credit Steps program after getting my first Platinum card in late August).
I would like the Venture or QS Visa but I don't want it at the expense of a aHP. Should I contact the EO about this? The rep I spoke to said I would receive a cli on my 7th billing statement. My 6th one will cut on the 5th. Should I ask for both and how likely would I be approved? Thanks!

I don't think that contacting the EO about an app would help too much for this matter, simply because they can't approve you without an HP. If you do decide you want to apply for those cards, you're going to incur 3 HPs.
With QS you could ask for a product change now. Go through the EO for this not the front line customer service or you will definitely hear the account isnt yet 6 months old blah blah blah
If you want Ventures sign up bonus then a PC wont help you there. You could request a PC but they dont include bonus offers.
If you want to avoid a HP (in this case 3 per application) I would either attempt to PC now through the EO or wait until after the credit steps is completed as ImperfectFuture suggested and weigh your options at that time
Good luck!
my experience with cap1 prequal, I had 3 offers 1. QS Visa apr 17.9% apr, VentureOne 15.9% and Platinum Prestige 12.9%.
At the time, I already had a few cap1 one cards and NEVER prequaled for anything.
I went ahead and applied for VentureOne and QS Visa, instantly approved for both of them. I think cap1 prequal is solid.
you are getting pre-qual for cards that START at $5k limits though... might be worth the HP's!!
Especially Venture seems to be a very nice starting limit for those that are pre-approved for it.
I just checked the Capital One prequalify tool and discovered I was prequalified for the same cards. I've never been prequalified before from an online preapproval tool. ![]()
Screw the three HPs, just PC your current card. If they give you guff due to how long you've had the account, know that that's a BS response (they PCed my Platinum to a QS after less than a month). You can try to get it converted by contacting the EO. Good luck!

but the point is op has a $1k low grade capital one product and is now being pre-qual for the highest grade capital one cards that START at $4k more than current card op has even before credit steps and we all know that capital one is practically impossible to grow the original card with but great about giving better cards once you reach them so if you have a good use for venture i would rather take the 3 hp's now and get a $5-$20k limit card and move on!

I get the same prequals now. They will NEVER be worth 3 HP to me. ![]()
