3rd Discover Card?

Well, I guess it'll technically be 2nd since I just canceled the 2nd card.

I had a Discover It and used it for year for the cashback match.

I got a 2nd Discover It and used it for the 2nd year for another year of cashback match.

I just transferred the limit from the 2nd card back to the first card, and canceled the 2nd card today.

How long do I need to wait after canceling the 2nd card before trying to get a 3rd Discover It (and hopefully another year of cashback match)?

Year between discover cards... Although been a few reports recently few have got earlier than that.  Use to be the old rules so say you got a discover card 6 months ago you must wait 6 more months for 2nd one.

The card that I just canceled today was applied for over a year ago.  So does that mean I theoretically could get approved today?  I wondered if I should wait a month for Discover to report the cancelation and see it fall off my credit report?

i would wait a few days and run their pre-qual if interested in another card....  No sense in taking an un-needed hp if system hasn't cycled or to even be more safe wait till the 1st of Dec...

I have no experience to share, but I was wondering if you've tried Discover's pre-qual to see if anything comes up

It won't fall off your reports. It'll be there up to ten more years.

I guess I said that wrong.  I meant until it stops showing on my report as an active card.  I'm assuming since the application would be with Discover card, that they would know that it was canceled even though it's showing at credit agencies as active until they report it differently.

The prequal site says that I'm pre-approved for both a Chrome and an It card.  I didn't think to look at it before I canceled the other card, so I'm not sure if that's a new development.

You could have a prequal and still be denied for having too many Discover cards. I would give it 3 months in between closing one card and applying for another. Thats what i did.

The card I closed 10 days ago hasnt even reported yet. Statement date was 2 days ago. Still waiting for the account closed alert. And your another lucky one that combined. As everyone knows I was told I couldn't. Smiley Mad
