Well, I finally called Synchrony to see if I was eligible to upgrade to the VISA version.
The woman said "I have no control over upgrades" reapply and see if you are approved for the VISA
I said I guess I may as well I mean I got a ton of inquiries from December of 2015 anyway whats 1 more.
I kind of figured as much, I applied and instantly got the 7-10 day message what do you all think this is? They pulled Transunion... It says AE VISA/ SYNC( Think it said that when I was approved for the store version as well)... 733 is my score
I made her swear up an down on the phone that if I was not approved for the VISA that it would not give me another store card.... She said it would not that I would be flagged as having duplicates; but, if I were approved I could just call back and cancel my current store card.
I doubt it was an approval I have 18,000$ in exposure with sync.....
But if it is an approval yay! I mean if they had upgraded me it would have reported as a new account anyway!
So my seasoned Synchrony people tell me what you think approval or nah?
Update: For those of you all that were curious!
As some had speculated the system would haven given me the store card again; the letter started off with we will not give you another store card account because it seems you already have one duh! Your representative is the one who told me to apply again!
It makes no mention of the AEO Visa at all....
Pulled TransUnion 734 according to their pull...
The only thing the letter lists as a reason for denial is the fact that I already have a store card
Along with the usual things Transunion makes mention of when they are pulled....
Sounds like an all out denial. If you were approved for store card, you would have gotten a Congrts screen

I ran into this upgrade BS with GEMB before they moved over to Synch. I had the Sam's PLCC and they wouldn't budge on it converting to the Disco version at the time. I had the card for several years and no matter what they wouldn't do much with it and it topped out at $10K. I finally got pissed about it and they said reapply and voila! $4400 approval for the Disco when applied in store. Got the temp card from them and had 2 lines of credit for the same place. PLCC and Disco. They asked if I wanted to keep both I said yes unless they would move over the existing $10K over to the new account. They said no so, for a few years I had both of them. Within a matter of months though the Disco moved up to $10K as well. I kept using it monthly for a couple of years and they wouldn't budge past the $10K limit no matter what I did with it. Finally getting to the end of my rope with them I stumbled upon a thread or two here with the 8173# listed with decent success. Gave them one last call and asked for $30K and they countered with $25K unless I wanted to provide POI... Took the $25K and ran.... Few days later the envelope came with the POI for the $30K and it wasn't what I was expecting from Synch with all of the talk about a 4506 on here. They just wanted pay stubs or somethign along those lines and not the 4506. Just tossed it aside into the shredder since I got some movement and didn't feel like deal with it anymore. So, if you have a sutbborness about getting the upgrade it may take you a few attempts and/or closure of the store card to get a V/MC out of them.
If you're taking a HP and getting the you already have one then it's time to plan on bigger fruit than the low lying fruit that the Synch tree bares.
