AMEX 3X Denial Datapoint (and couple Questions?)

I recently attempted a crack at my first CLI request for AMEX. It was going to be a 3X CLI, but was denied and this post post will go over the details and reasons for the denial. For a full breakdown of my credit profile at the time of applying, click here. However, a quick summary and other info is below: This 3X CLI attempt was on my first ever and currently only AMEX account (the Blue cash everyday).

Date applied for the card: June 27, 2020 (auto-approved)

Initital Credit Limit: $1,000

Date applied for the 3X CLI: October 30, 2020 (Day #125 since account opening)

It was around the 4th month mark (I got my 4th statement days before doing the CLI).

On this card:

Average Spend: $682.38

Lowest Spend Per Month: $430.96

Highest Spend Per Month: $1,082.46 (paid down then spent more)

Average Statement: $94.12

Lowest Statement Per Month: $55.40

Highest Statement Per Month: $172.75

For the most part I kept my utilization at 8% or under but I wasn't expecting AMEX to actually post a big purchase when I made that purchase on the morning of the statement date, so that's the reason for the 17% jump in utilization for the 4th statement. Either way, I paid in full regardless even though I had an APR free period. For the total assets field (was optional) for how much is in savings, checking, brokerage accounts etc... I put $10K. I just got the letter that explains why they declined it today... (November 4, 2020). The reason for the denial is because: My account with them was recently opened. Quote, "Your account was opened recently, and your tenure with American Express is too short"When I applied for the CLI, the letter has listed that my credit score on September 30, 2020 was 732. (Soft pull only).

So my only two questions are this:

  1. Since the 3X was denied, I have to wait 91 days from the date that it was declined right? Should I try a 3X again or like a 2.5X instead?
  2. Should I also wait and apply for the Amazon Prime Business Card (the black metal card)? Because that's been on my mind recently for my actual business.

Re: AMEX 3X Denial Datapoint (and couple Questions?)

The 1000 SL is typically harder to get up. People here say Amex'll counter offer if they're uncomfortable giving you the whole requested amount, so 3x sounds good (in theory).

You're free to apply for any Amex cards.

I received a 5k SL right after my 1K card with them. And a charge card a few months later. Still no luck on CLIs, though. So the Amazon card for you is possibly on the table.
