AMEX 3x CLI Question

I have 2 Amex Cards...1 Business and one personal.  With AMEX you can move credit limits between 2 accounts.  So my personal is at $3k and my business is at $2k.  I am coming up on 3 months and will request another CLI for my personal card.  If I move say $1500 CL from my business card, so my CL would be $4500, can I get 3x THAT limit or will they only approve 3x the CL before I moved some?  Anyone try that?

How it works with AmEx   ...

You can re-allocate limits to business from personal, but NOT from business to personal.

Once you move that limit to business, it cannot be moved back.

The 3x is only eligible on the CL before you re-allocate limits.

Just to add, 3x is not always guaranteed. YMMV

Hope that helps.

Yes.  Reallocations of credit from AMEX personal to AMEX business cards is a one-way trip.

If you're talking about you were going to move it temporarily just to get a higher CLI and then after that move that $1,500 back to the other card. That kind of thing will get run the risk of either FR or getting your cards shut down. AmEx doesn't play games like that and will frown on them big time. My suggest IF I understood your post correctly is always be above board with AmEx especially.

Ah that's a bummer if the move was from personal to business. Amex business does not report to the regular credit bureaus you will probably lose that amount of available credit reporting, so make sure to keep an eye on your utilization. I am not sure if the amount is significant to your profile or not, but your utilization might be more sensitive now.

Nope i had a legit business expense that was higher than the business CL.  I charged the expense then paid it diwn to below my original CL and was going to transfer that available credit back. I was curious if that transfer would affect my CLI when I requested it.
