AMEX 3x CLI only available to select members?

I've viewed varying posts here about this subject, and my take on it is this supposed increase is only feasible for those who have no derogs and/or have other current cards with at least one 5k limit account available. Although I'm probably incorrect in my assumptions. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks in advance.

I had gotten my Amex ED (along with a Biz Gold) within a week of each other back in November, like 20th or something.  Limit on ED is 3500.  Saw all the posts in Dec about people hitting the luv button early, so I hit mine at like 32 days.  7-10 notice, called CS and they said declined.  Got the letter listing like 6 different reasons why not.  Too many recently opened accounts, too many recent inquiries, proportion of debt blah blah blah.  NO!  So, I was hurt, man.  BUT, at that time I didn't have any big limits reporting.  Now I have Discover 7k, and Overstock 6900.  I set the date timer on my phone for 90 days, which is March 21.  By then I will have had several statements cut, buncha PIFs for large amounts, and I have other good limits on my reports. 

Does anyone think my chances will be good? 

I hope I'm not one of those who gets denied again.  My feelings would be really hurt then, and I'd shift my monthly spend over to my Chase cards and let Amex go dormant in the SD.

Narrowing down the derog category, has anybody gotten the 3x increase with a large open state tax lien in their file? Crossing fingers.

You applied for the 3x too soon. The earliest should be a week sooner than the 61 days, I had no problem. Don't know where it started with 30 some days, but that is just wrong. I got mine (though I asked for less), and there is still room to grow if I need.

Your chances are up to you, but I personally waited to apply for prime cards until my reports were clean.

Are CO's considered worse than tax liens? I didn't know that. My lien will be 7 years old by the time I try my 3x CLI.

I was approved at $9k and just hit the button and was immediately approved for $18k. I wasn't sure if I could do $27k without jumping through hoops and its not that important to me. I still have a couple derogs that are due to fall off this year.  I think I may have jumped the gun at 61 days or miscounted either way I didn't get anything so then I just forgot about asking until last week. I think its been 6 months now since I got the card and they doubled it. I mainly use it for Costco purchases and Costco gas so its not like I use it everyday, but its nice to pad the uti a bit more.
