I asked for a CLI 93 days after the account was open but had a $4000 balance on that card (from an intro BT) and was denied (probably because the utilization), fast forward 4 months later the balance was $6200 but just paid down to a $2000 balance as of 4 days ago. My question is.... Will AE give a CLI showing a 2k balance or does it need to be PIF?
Also, they know their is 2k balance but the SP report would still show $6200, no? How would that work, any help would be appreciated.
AMEX isn't quite as sensitive as some other places when it comes down to it. As long as you're showing progress on paying it down then you should be able to at least get a counter offer. Just give it the appropriate amount of time before trying again and it should go through.
just my 2 cents... probably better to focus on getting that balance paid off. Everything seems to work out more in your favor in the credit world when you aren't carrying balances, moreso when not carrying $1000's in balances.
Though, I can add that Amex approved SPG Business with a 10K SL when the Everyday was reporting a 2k balance (on 8k limit) so as always the overall picture is pretty complex and varies quite a bit from person to person and even month to month.
