AMEX Blacklist Question

I had my AMEX opened in 2013, and i charged off $9000 in 2014. I paid $1k and reduced by balance to $8000 in 2015. I filied a ch7 bk last year in November.

Since 2014 i have been unable to even be added as an Authorized user on ANY Amex card.

I've tried adding myself as an AU to my wife's AMEX cards multiple times and even recently this month always declined.

I tried last week to add myself to my wife's business charge card and it was approved because it didn't ask for my social. When i activated the card it asked for my social.

I then opened an AMEX Personal Savings account also with my Social.

Today i tried to add myself again to her AMEX PRG..

It actually went through!! I see the additional card online.

Did i somehow get kicked off the blacklist? I know i have to wait 5 years for my own card because of the BK but even being added as an Authorized user has been impossible before today.

Re: AMEX Blacklist Question

I burned AMEX in 2006, I had the Biz Gold, Personal Platinum, Delta Platinum $12000 SL, but due to business collapse I lost then all and filed BK. I was of course blacklisted and for years I couldn't be added as an AU. Until 2016 a friend put me on his card as AU and I then realized I was off the blacklist. About 6 months later on the Delta Airlines site I applied and was approved for AMEX Delta Gold $1000 SL. I have the Biz Platinum, Delta Platinum, but I must say it took a few years for me to get off the blacklist.

Re: AMEX Blacklist Question

So does this mean something that i was finally able to be added as an AU?

Re: AMEX Blacklist Question

not sure but after I was able to be added as AU, I waited a few months, applied and was approved for the Delta Gold.

I am applying if I were you. Keep in mind that if you blacklisted, Amex doesn't pull your credit report.

Re: AMEX Blacklist Question

I still have a recent ch7 though so even if I am off I won’t be approved due to the bk right?

If you're on the blacklist there's a known work-around for being added as an AU... basically don't provide your SS# until you activate the card.  There are a few times people have reported this not working, but it works for many.

Re: AMEX Blacklist Question

If the BK is showing you won’t be approved. My ch 13 was discharged 2011, I didn’t get approved for AU until 2016, approved for 1st card until 2017

Re: AMEX Blacklist Question

Right.

Even when i tried without social, just my name it would never go through. I would get the 7-10 day message and then cannot be added letter.

So my workaround was added myself to the business card and putting in my social when that one was received.

I’ve now added myself as an AU to several Amex cards and no issue. I’ve been putting my social since the beginning.

But i would have to wait 5 years from discharge from what I understand for my own approval.
