So yesterday Hubby (FICO low 636s) applied for a revolving AMEX card and was denied. Today he gets a American Express Business Gold Rewards Card RSVP Code with 75,000MRP in the mail.
I'm thinking it would be instantly denied based on yesterdays denial, but then again if he did go aheaad and try and was denied based on yesterday it would most likely just be a SP.
I'm also thinking don't bother to even try....????
We listed him on my new cards as an AU so he can start showing some positive on his FICO and get those numbers a bit higher. Just because he was denied, I'm wondering if they will stop sending him promo offers? He can always try again later down the road...
He decided to go ahead and try. Put in the offer code, got the 7-10 day message, but then got an email within 5 minutes with a denial.
What is interesting is that when he clicked on the link for the answer it said denied but it listed the revolving CC that he was denied for yesterday but it was connected to his application for the non revolving card today. That tells me they didn't even consider him and just gave him an instant denial based on yesterdays decision....oh well. We shall wait and garden then try again. He is an AU on my AMEX that i was just approved for, so with time, they will hopefully give him a chance.
Derogatories and Utilization. They are counting the amount owed to B of A that was closed as a charge off against his amount of credit used, but I'm an AU on that account so they don't include it for me. So his UT is showing 88% on two CB and 101% on the third CB, while my FICO shows 25% overall UT. We had 1 main CC (Capital One QS1) at 80% UT, 3 retail with 2 at 0% and one at 20% and a car loan. I just got AMEX BCE $1,000CL and Discover it $10,500CL. He just got Capital One Platinum MC with $500CL. I checked his EX report and he has a ton of soft inquiries and many we can't figure out why and are looking into this. His HP are just from my car loan (3), but AMEX just declined him twice and it looks like it caused 2 new HP's.
He was also the main account holder for the other card that was charged off back in 2013/2014. Other than that our accounts are the same, both show Tax Lien, but his FICO is way lower as a result. Since that time our accounts have been clean. The QuickSilver 1 that we got almost 2 years ago is in his name and it's clean and showing one increase in credit.

maybe triggerring denial due to an existing app... happened to me.... i had an app from 12/17 which was a denial and I applied for
the amex gold the other day... and denied right away in seconds.. so i called for a manual review and my app from yesterday
was showing cancelled not denial but the message i got form the screen was a denial.. maybe try calling for manual review?
I was approved in minutes after i called for manual review.. i thought it would take days...
It isn't showing a list. When we click on the link the give you in the email to see if your approved or not, it just goes to one and it's the first card he was denied for, there is no second card.
You can try calling and asking for a manual recon which will be another Hardpull.
