I applied for a CLI and got declined for this reason
"Your requested American Express CREDIT LIMITS are TOO HIGH"
You have a lot of Amex cards. It sounds to me like maximum exposure. They are not willing to extend any further credit. Could be wrong but that's what it seems like to me.
Call Amex and ask for clarifiction
Had a feeling it was either that or I asked for too much, but I only asked for 2.94 X and I always thought they countered.

Agree. Seems the same with me.
This happened to me this year. I have 2 personal AmEx's and a business AmEx. When my Amazon business was raised to $40,000 year before last, I stopped getting auto-CLI's. I requested a CLI for my BCE, and declined for that same reason.
When I called, I spoke to a rep and a supervisor, my total CL's for all 3 was at the maximum threshold for what they wanted me to have.
The only way I know to legitimately get around that is update your salary when you get a raise and try again. Then try it again when you pass your Amex anniversary.

Max exposeure?
Does the pay over time count towards the "Max Exposure" ?
Id imagine your POT has a limit they are comfortable allowing you to use so in essence its part of your max exposure. Trying to game them wont work since they can deny any attempted charge that goes over amount they permit. Imo.

Just trying to figure out what they consider in the "Max Exposure" - just Credit card limits it's POT limit included.
