So I decided to follow the suggestion of some people on this board and request a CLI online for my otherwise useless BCE. I was told here, and read on another website (MagnifyMoney), that AMEX will only do a soft pull for CLI’s. But to my surprise, I did not get an immediate response, but a message about getting a response in 3-7 days.
I really do NOT want a HP for this. I have only used this card one single time, partly because of the ridiculous CL of $500, but also because it’s probably the worst card that I own right now (I have the Gold AMEX, Discover It, and TD Cashback Visa).
Is this what everyone gets when they ask for an AMEX CLI online, or Does this mean they will do a HP?
Is there a way I can prevent a HP before they do it?

7-10 days most always a denial (ask me how I know that tidbit) 3-7 days not sure. But always a SP
As the other responses! Not sure the OPs confusion of why a timeframe = HP. Many issuers, if they are going to do an HP, do it at once....
SP and, like it was mentioned before, the system could not figure out on its own if it was ok to give you a CLI so someone needs to check your request.
Did you receive an email from Amex? If so, the email should contain a Reference number which can be used to check the status of your request at this link: https://www262.americanexpress.com/eaol/welcome_loc.do (The PCN is the reference number).
Never heard about a 3-7 day message before.
I did not receive any email regarding this.
