While being granted a CLI wouldn't by itself hurt you, it *could* potentially hurt you in the sense that they've extended the max amount of credit they may be willing to give you at this time (if not permanently) across all accounts. Just something to consider.

Ok. Got it. So in other words they may not approve me for additional credit?  I've read countless post where people have gotten cards like crazy after their 1st one. I hope they haven't capped me. Lol 🙂  BCP was 15k and now 90 days later it's $30k . After reading DP's I opted to only ask for 1x CLI fearing they would decline if I asked for 3x. I'll certainly keep this in mind. I just started a business and wondering if they'll approve me for their business blue 🤔

It's possible, yes. No way to really know unless you try. One thing that could also happen if they feel you're maxed out is that they'll approve you for a new card, but they'll "borrow" credit from an existing card to open the new one.

Also, don't be afraid to ask for 3x next time; it's not all or nothing. If they feel it's too much but they're still willing to give you some sort of CLI, they'll counter. Smiley Wink

Got it! I was kind of feeling that I may have left some on the table by only asking for an additional 15k but kind of figured 30k would keep me in the safe zone since so many say sometimes beyond 30k brings about POI. Not that I'm worried but just didn't want the hassle. The next thing will be determining how much to ask for the next time without the POI hassle as well.😁 Lol! Appreciate the feedback!

At which point the POI request comes will depend on individual profiles. If you're demonstrating the spend and need for additional credit, the algorithm will likely reflect that. Amex is very algorithm driven.

I believe so because I've put close to 3k on it in 3 months on my way to trying to get that $350 back . Had a big purchase of $602 right after the new statement printed and the button to request a CLI in account services was telling me account was too new at first. A day later it appeared. So if you spend the aglorithm does like it. lol ! I love the BCP so far and plan on using it alot. Added wife as an AU on it as well and her FICO 8 shot up 30 points in the last month. Within 2 years i'm currently approaching 100k in available credit and estatic over being in the AMEX ecosystem. Tempted to pull the trigger for the other 10k-15k to get me over. Smiley Happy

Never applied for an additional card after receiving the, "Applying to expand your Card Membership with us is easy,..." message. Does hitting submit and getting declined = Hard Pull? I currently have Platinum, Delta Reserve, and Hilton Surpass. I'm interested in one of the Marriott cards. Checking to see if there are any datapoints indicating a risk for trying.
