Worst they can say is no and you're still in the same situation, best case you get what you ask for! Good luck with the request and let us know what happens!

Re: AMEX CLI advice

@ccquest I'm going to find the courage to ask today. Lol I don't know if I should try to do the 3x ($18K) since my income is perhaps too low to support my current AMEX exposure which is $15,700. My total CL including other credit cards is $49K.
Will they counter or flat out deny me? Should I just ask for another $2K bringing my Bonvoy limit to $8K? I don't want to seem greedy.
Out of 49K, my total utilization is just $17K.

Re: AMEX CLI advice

@Jnbmom l'm glad I'm not alone. I will be taking my MCAT this month & another reason why I've been thinking of getting a CLI. I've been tending to my credit for a while now w/my Mom's help. Med school cost is up to $90K a year & although my parents are happy to pay for it, I feel bad. I'm thinking that perhaps I can help out by getting a loan. 😬

Re: AMEX CLI advice

17k or 1.7k? "Just 17k" would be pretty high for a reported income around 32k and not match the 1% on the original post.

Most reports say they counter down to what your profile supports for them so going for broke shouldn't affect you negatively. If you don't need it for anything, I'd say maybe go for $10k at least though.

Re: AMEX CLI advice

$17K exposure for AMEX but total credit line of $49K across the board. I will ask for $10K and see what they say. 🤞🏻 If it ends up being a denial, I will just leave everything alone & pray for auto CLIs between now & after Med school. 😁
