Hi, I'd like to know if there's any rhyme or reason to cli's from Amex. I was approved for their Cash Pref care in Jan '20 w a $5k SL. By far the lowest CL but this was my first Amex product and the $300 bonus for just $1k spend looked good on top of the 6% grocery. Anyway, I spend about $1k/month, always pif and at 4 months in, I req a Cli to $10k. Denied. I continue to spend about $1k/month and just tried for a 2x increase again at the 7 month mark and am met w the 7-10 day (still waiting for the snail mail).
My Ficos sit in the 755-768 range, util is 12%, aaofa is 5y 5m and absolutely zero baddies. My Disc and Citi increase $1500-2500 every 6 months like clockwork. I tell myself it's them pulling back due to the current climate to justify the rejections but is there something that I can do to expedite a Cli? Should I start carrying a balance? Use it for more than 10-12 transactions per month?
Sincere thanks for any insight!
What was the denial reason?
Sorry about the denial @Anonymous
If you log in online, search for "secure message" and you can read their decision and reasons without having to wait 10 days for the mail to arrive.
I'm not sure of the circumstances and while I see both types of thread posts here....I seem to read more AMEX denials which leads me to say...it's likely not you...it's them being conservative right now.
Sorry to hear about the denial. Better luck next time!
