I've never filled out a pre-qual app for any company, I'm still rebuilding my credit and I know the pre-qual isn't guaranteed but is there any harm in filling out pre-qual's from theirs site multiple times? such as checking every couple weeks etc?
I didn't think so but wanted to check and didn't see anything specific to this when I searched =) thanks!
nope theres no harm i checked almost weekly til i had a preapproval for discover pop up
I asked this to an Amex CSR once. I was told tht my credit score would not be inpacted. HOWEVER.
Purposely being careful with every word she said .... I was warned that using the preapproval site excessively would not be recommended. This lead me to believe that Amex records how many times you use the site

Checking Amex's preapproval site every two weeks or so probably would be contraindicated then, but I doubt checking every month or two would do any harm. In my case, since I have a BK from 2014 on my record, Amex won't even consider me for a card until fall 2019 anyway when the record has aged to 5 years plus 1 month, so there's no point to using the prequal site if you have a BK that's less than 5 years 1 month old (I only found that out last month).
As for Discover, as far as I know you can check it as often as you like, but bear in mind that if you already have a Discover card and it's less than a year old, you won't get an offer even if your credit is excellent overall. You have to wait a year after getting a Disco card before you're eligible for pre-qualification offers again (and you can only have 2 Discover cards at a time in any case).
If you want to check to see if your pre qualified for Amex when you already have an accout, you just need to go on to your account. Above the pic of your card you will see the menu button, just click on it, go to cards and to the right you should see a prequalifed cards button. You can do this as much as you like without a HP or any static.
