After being in the garden for a while, I had signed onto my AMEX Account (GOLD card member since 2018) and saw an offer on an Everyday Card. FICOS: EX 725, EQ 731, TU 729 ..... moderate amount of inquiries, 24% utilization, I decided to pull the trigget on the AMEX Everyday Card and got the "we need a little more information", then prompted to me submit one of several different documents. I decided to submit my Homeowner's Insurance statement just because it was the freshest on my mind after I had just been looking at it recently. After I submitted it, I got a "we'll let you know in 3-5 days" response. The online "check application status" portal for AMEX is currently down and not working, I've already tried to see if I've been approved or denied.
And while this sort of prompt usually is frustrating for most applicants, I was actually intrigued because for whatever reason, AMEX has denied me on probably 7-8 apps over the last 5 years since I opened my Gold card. I've had nothing but on-time payments, responsible spend, never late. Credit scores have fluxuated a bit based on utilzation.
No baddies on my report and have a solid base of credit lines nearing $70,000 at this point. AMEX never extending the olive branch on another card for me has always been confusing. Outside of those rejections, I love my GOLD Card and I'm a firm believer in charge cards. Keeps you disciplined with your spending knowing you have to pay it off each month. It's easily the card I use the most on a day to day basis, I treat it like my DEBIT card.
Anyone else have the "we need a little more info" document submission....am I headed in the right direction? Look forward to providing an update once I get the response.

Oh, the hours that've been wasted trying to figure out the Amex algo. The current theory is that it's hating on some people's (like me) personal side, but very generous on the biz side (also me). So you might try the latter. Also, it's well established that they're looser on charge cards that (mostly) have to be paid off monthly vs. credit cards. Three of my max five Amex CCs are biz as a result of these two phenomena. Hope this helps clarify a bit. TLDR: It's not you, it's the algo.
Great Info reluctantgarden, just as an update....APPROVED! No Info on SL however, probably can call or find out or ride out the suspense and wait until I get it in the mail 😂😂

Congrats @CreditRebuilder2020 !
