AMEX PRG and EDP questions

I'm thinking about taking Amex up on the 50k PRG offer next week once I close on the house. It's been killing me everytime I see that 50k and cant apply lol.

Anyway, my goal will be to apply for PRG for the 50k, and then the EDP for the 30k. My questions are:

  1. Can I get both bonuses, or do they limit it to just one?
  2. Can I PC the EDP to ED before the AF hits?

I did have an Everyday before, but closed it due to being stuck with a low CL several months ago. My scores as of right now are all 700-720.

80k MR points is a tantalizing offer!

1. did you recieve a bonus the last time you had the ED? Amex limits it to 1 bonus per product per lifetime

2. I think Amex's rule is card need to be 13 months old to be able to PC

I'll be curious to hear the answer to the ED/EDP bonus question.

I was successfully able to PC my BCP to BCE (when I switched over to MR to do exactly what you did...except I only got 15k for EDP) after about 5 months. The 13 statement rule is for moving CL's. The AF is charged right away, but on the PC they prorated the AF.

very interesting. Had my ED since May and they wont allow me to upgrade to EDP until the 13th statement. (which I am glad anyway as I may try for the EDP bonus)

That being said, u should be just fine getting the EDP bonus as its a different product.  Even if u took the bonus on the ED.  What makes you think your limit will be different now, or do you just not care due to the bonus?  I myself, wouldn't care, and just go for 3x cli's as needed.

You cannot PC to the ED before the AF hits, but u can try for a retention offer, or you have 60 days to get the AF refunded, so if you did downgrade to ED they would refund it. I think.

I think you can go down FROM AF but not up TO AF due to something in the card act.

Re: AMEX PRG and EDP questions

I recently did the PRG with 50K and the ED for 10K MR. Thought about the EDP, but instant AF was not worth 5K MR on the offer. Got instant approval for both with scores between 700-715. Good luck with your decision and apping!

Re: AMEX PRG and EDP questions

Thanks for the info everyone, i'll let you know how it works out! I guess I could just ask a chat rep when I go to apply if my ED bonus would cancel an EDP bonus.

Questio on this - when you close your ED can you re-apply for a different and new one? I'm asking because I was approved for Blue while my score was still in borderling, hence, my SL is also borderline at $500. But once the baddies were out of my report after just 5 days, I was approved for Preferred with $5,000 CL. I was wondering if I need to cancel the first one after I just got it and try for a different one or keep it and grow it?

Won't happen. <product 1> bonus has absolutely nothing to do with <product 2> bonus, regardless of any similarity in the name. You can absolutely get a sign-up bonus for every single card that offers one, but you will only receive a sign-up bonus from AMEX once per product (card).
