i just got my amex platinum less than a month ago and i dont think my SUB is that much.
i actually dont remember the actual number it is now..just that i have to charge $5k within 3 months
Almost certainly either 60K, 75K, or 100K MR. 60K is the standard public offer, the others are made available via promotional, targeted, referral, or affiliate-driven offers.
@Anonymous wrote:@Citylights18 You are much stronger than me, I woulda jumped on that offer head first 😂.
That's because I never really appreciated the perks associated with the card.
-Lounge access. Do I fly enough to need lounge access?
-Airline credit. Tied to a specific airline.
-Gold status with Hilton/Marriot. Usally can get independent hotels for a better price.
-15 a month UBER credit. I don't ride UBER.
-5x on prepaid hotels on AMEX travel. I can do better on price with an online travel portal.
I guess 5x on flights is something. But with all of those MR points when will you have the need to buy flights?
Its possible to have more points banked and an earn rate which exceeds more than what you'll ever reedem in airfare. I have 130,000 Chase points to use in my account not to mention frequent flyer points with several airlines to use. At 125,000 it would be doubling it. I can understand if I was under 75,000 miles across accounts and needed a miles injection.

The 125,000 targeted is also on Dr. of credit.
The offer showed up as a one shot deal for me on the AMEX prequal tool then back to 100k.
You're lucky! i was trying to get the 100k offer, but since i already had the ED card, and i opened my first Amex (The Blue card) back in 2008, which was closed long ago. I had no chance of getting 100k, so i jumped on the 75k SUB when i had the chance
That being said, i plan on using my Platinum for my travels, at least 3 times this year, and my home airport has a Centurion lounge. So, it was a no brainer for me.
If you don't see yourself being able to use the Platinum for more than the 125k SUB, the $550 AF may not be worth it. Especially if you're wanting an Ink card or the Prestige instead.
Will you be able to take advantage of all the Platinum's benefits? If so, go for it. If not, you're likely better off with the other two cards you mentioned.

@Citylights18 wrote:AMEX Business Platinum seems more valuable as you can write off the AF plus receive a 35% discount on flight purchases. The SUB for that one is not as generous though 60k for 10,000 spend and another 50k for another 15,000 spend.
125k for only 5,000 spend is quite a good deal. Is it possible to PC a Platinum to a Business Platinum after 12 months?
Unfortunately, no. And the same would apply to PCs to any other Platinum co-branded versions.
That said, the personal or biz [vanilla] version can be downgraded to Gold or Green.
And, as @Anonymous, it would've been difficult for me not to jump on the 125K MR offer...even if it meant sacrificing a 5/24 slot 😁 for me, of course.
But, great willpower to resist nonetheless!
Something here that I didn't fully digest when the 125,000 offer (admittedly I was just checking for fun) that downgrading in a year to the AMEX Green would make a lot of sense.
If I value that SUB at 1,250 x2 ($2500) then eating a $550 annual fee for 1 year seems doable. I have a CSP right now paying $95. If I upgrade to the CSR for 3x dine/travel the effective AF after the $300 travel credit goes to $250 an increase of $155. I might as well carry a CSP and a AMEX Green rather than upgrade the CSP to the CSR.
Then the AMEX Green doesn't conflict in as many categories as my Chase Freedom like when its 5x in groceries and gas. That is the problem stacking Chase with the AMEX Gold as its $100 extra AF and directs you at 4x to put your groceries on it. Plus grubhub credit right now is in direct conflict with the doordash credit offered on the chase cards. I spend a lot more on travel than what I do on groceries. NPSL is nice for keeping that utilization low.
