How legit is an email invite to the Platinum AMEX ($550 annual fee one) with a reservation code?

Have you checked to see if you formally prequalify?

Was the signup bonus for 60,000, 75,000, or 100,000 MR?

Re: AMEX Platinum invite

It is the 60,000 one.  Offer seems to be attached to my Cash Magnet account.

Try logging in to your AMEX account, select cards, and then under the Platinum card click on Apply Now. (don't worry, you can back out without actually applying)

If it comes back with 'Hasselfree, you're preapproved!' odds are very good for approval without a HP.

If it comes back with something like "Applying to expand your membership with us is easy, Hasselfree" you haven't been prequalified so the odds are approval are less.
