I was just checking through my e-mails and saw an offer that says I'm pre-approved for the AMEX Platinum (150k SUB). I recently accepted my Sapphire (95k SUB) from Chase.
Also, I'm pre-approved for the Venture X Biz (120k SUB).
I get Uber One, Doordash subs for free, which I use and like. I plan on traveling but don't use lounges, I don't loft at airports, I just go straight to my destination.
Given my travel plans and spending habits, the Capital One Venture X card could be an excellent addition to the wallet, offering robust travel benefits and rewards while complementing my sapphire effectively.
I never leave a balance unless it's a 0% APR card for 12-15 months.
I believe the Venture X to be the most effective card across the board..thoughts from anyone with experience? Any other cards I should check out?
Best Regards
VX sub currently is 75k, not 120k?
other than that, if you can easily use the cap1 travel portal for your $300 credit, no reason not to accept the VX, the Plat will always be willing to accept you at any time, the VX is much more finnicky and can decide to stop pre-approving you at any time

Venture X for nothing more than the sign-up bonus if nothing else if pre-approved. Personally I prefer the CSP over Venture X and have no desire for that card other than sign-up bonus. Only keep a few decent AF cards in my wallet and Venture X and Platinum aren't them. CSP is always in my wallet though. You know your spending best and justify it or not. Other cards are good as well just depends on your end goal as sign-up will be the biggest bonus thing you will likely ever see on the card so keep that in mind then it becomes a game of diminishing return unless you put a TON of money of card each year it is something that gives you a free hotel room or something a night for the AF. That is where I find value in AF cards so you at least break even with the AF without any spend. Spend on top is just gravy.
Post above me thinks Platinum is a better card so all in the eye of the beholder as well as I see the platinum as an over priced coupon book that you have to put your spend around to make up for AF other than if you have lounges readily available near your home airport and MRs to be very confusing where-as with UR's you are at least getting 1 cpp. Just my 2 cents and many people will have theirs as well.
Thanks for the insights! I’m with you on this. The sapphire is a solid card that always earns its keep in my wallet, especially with those easy-to-use UR points and protections. Venture X Biz is tempting for the sign-up bonus, but beyond that, it’s a lot of overlap from the sapphire
The Platinum card? I’ve always seen it as an overpriced coupon book. Sure, it’s great if you’re hitting lounges regularly and can maximize those MR points, but for me, it’s not worth the hassle yet
At the end of the day, I see the consensus is it’s all about getting real value from the AF cards without having to twist your spending habits too much. Thanks again for your perspective!
Thanks for the catch it's the VX Biz, the consumer looks to be 75-100k SUB, I'll either get the VX and hold on the Plat
Seems to smell like gear lube, but anyways.
The Venture X Business SUB looks to currently be "150,000 bonus miles when you spend $30,000 in the first 3 months"
May be worth checking out the amex biz platinum as well since the benefits of that one are different, and sometimes fit your existing spending areas better. But like the previous poster said, you can always get the Amex they're not too picky. Capital One is constantly screwing around with new algorithms and rules, and they have a long waiting period between cards. I say give the Venture X a try - but dont ignore the lounges! Free meals can easily outweigh the other benefits dollar for dollar, especially at the airport when your flight is delayed and you have nothing to do for a while. Just an airport bottled water is like $8 where I live. I was once stuck in Vegas airport for 12 hours and without the Amex lounge couches with free food and alc I would have lost my mind.

Nice true how's the apple and bilt card for you
The Apple card I really don't use too much, aside from when the Nike store is running the 5% deal. The BILT is pretty cool for a no-fee card. Has some degree of travel protection/insurance, 3x dining, decent range of travel partners similar to Chase.
