Got an email and snail mail flyer to app for the US Bank Platinum Visa.
Interested due to the 21 month BT offer.
I have 2 other USB products: Cash+ & Business Platinum.
Plus Savings account.
Is this a pre-approval and is it worth the HP for this product ?
I also have the Cash+ card, no bank account but USB does service my mortgage. I got the same email but mine said pre-approved. I pulled the trigger and got the card with a good SL with no hard pull. I thought it was worth it for the balance transfer. If the email says pre-approved I say why not for almost 2 years of 0% interest.
Thanks for your experience, application says "pre selected"....

"Pre-selected" is a marketing email and will involve a hard pull. If you have no other credit goals or plans then a hard pull is probably worth it for the almost 2 years of 0% interest. If you have other plans then I would say pass on it if you are uncertain your profile will qualify.
You are not preapproved for their card
I had been banking with them for3 years before they finally approved me with my 3rd pre approved mailer. 2 previous denials. I was around 750 0/12 0/12 when they approved me along with 3 other USBank card in the next 4 months.
I tried on their website with the pre approval with the reserve and was denied with a 750 0/8. 2/12 accounts. 0/8 6/12 inquires. Not sure if their website pre approval is more reliable or the same.

So you have 4 cards thru USB ?
Which products do you have ?
Platnium $13,500 (10-22) Shoppers $15,000 (11-22) GO $16,500 (1-23) State Farm $15,000 (2-23) I tried for a 5th a couple months later and got a letter stating 60k total was the max. $105k a year salary.
This card has no benefits except for the Balance Transfer offer. They used to charge a 3 percent BT fee. Now it is 5 percent! Fail.
Go with Citi Simplicity instead.
