You can go for both for one HP. Just make sure to get the 50k MR points for the PRG and the 60k bonus for the Delta Gold. The charge card doesn't help your credit limit, but it doesn't hurt it either if you have balance on your statement. It won't count towards your utilization percentage.

+1 whichever card(s) you decide to go, later on, make sure you got the SUB for each card. Because you only can get 1 time only per lifetime on each card.

I think all amex have the same standards for approval...so if you don't want one of those 3 prequals, just app the amex card you do want.

Actually, I think it's that all their *charge* cards, speciffically, have the same underwriting requirements. Though I'm sure someone more knowledgable can chime in and confirm or correct me.

Thanks so much for the chance to chime in. Smiley Very Happy

I'm a big proponent of the Amex "2 for 1" deal...with two (2) caveats:

1. Always get the Amex card you want because it's the card you want.

2. Never, ever chase subs. When the subs are gone, the card remains.

In your case, you don't fly Delta. So don't get the Gold Delta Sky Miles Card.

But after reading thru this thread, you do seem to like the Premier Rewards Gold.

So what you can do is get the PRG first, and then speak to an Amex CSR and ask

to swap the Gold Delta for a Blue Cash Preferred, for example. You'll still spend

the same $1,000, but you'll get back $200 on a card you want instead of 50,000

miles on an airline you never fly. Like I said, get what you want. Don't chase subs.

So there you go. You asked for my 2 cents, so I just gave it to you.

Please keep us posted on what you decide to do and on your future

credit success. Thanks for sharing! Smiley Very Happy

I always see the "I don't fly Delta" but do you fly? Short of chasing subs it's not like you can't get miles on the 20 or so partners they do have. Not to mention other things like Hotels and AirBnB.
