AMEX Pre approval question

So a little over a month ago I applied for the PRG and was denied because I had too little experience with amex (I had opened first card a month and a half earlier)

Today I was looking at cards to notice I am pre-approved for every card listed including new SPG and Plat card but the PRG does not show up when looking at all the cards. Would this be because of the denial from it last month?

Are these pre-approvals solid?

Would either the SPG or SPG Lux be worth it for a college student that will be abroad for a semester in europe/getting a hotel up to around 4 times in a year or so? Should I just stick with my delta card and 3x it instead of a soft app?

Any idea on when PRG would reappear as an option?

Thanks for all help!

Re: AMEX Pre approval question

Same thing happened to me last month with the platinum card. I saw I was pre approved and applied but before the app went through it told me I would not be able get the welcome offer so I declined the app. Now I don’t see the platinum card at all.

After an application/denial, it usually takes 90 days before you can apply for that particular product again. Just be patient, it will show back up.

Re: AMEX Pre approval question

Hello there Smiley Happy

Being that you had been denied, that is the reason that it is not appearing again. For some reason the PRG seems to be the harder one to get. People with low scores get approved for the Platinum card faster. Nevertheless, I am not sure how much traveling you are going to be doing, but I am not sure a premimum card would be the best for someone that is going to be abroad for a semester. I would take a look at what benefits you are going to need (e.g. Priority Pass, Hotel Property Credit, Free Night Award). If you are just needing it to have a card for a hotel then I would look at the Hilton Honors Ascend. You get a large sign-up bonus, 10 free lounge vists for Priority Pass, A Weekend Stay and other things. It has a $95.00 AF as well. Not to mention, a lower minimum spend requirement.

If Hilton is not your hotel of choice then perhaps the SPG. I just would try to save money if those are options that you are not going to be using. Just a thought
