AMEX and BK

Hi Everyone !

     My BK discharged in January 2017 and my AMEX application got denied for BK (I shouldve known it was too early to apply..thank God for these forums). My BK did not have an AMEX involved. Is this something I can recon later on when my inquiries drop and my scores are better? How long should I wait?

From what i have learned here on this wonderful forum, is that Amex is at least 5 yr post discharge if Amex wasn't included and even longer if they were included in BK. Someone correct me if im wrong. Sorry about your denial, good luck on your rebuild these forums are the best to rebuild

I think Amex looks at file date, not DC date.  I have a Ch 13.  I filed 6/11 DC 9/16 and was approved for 2 Amex cards in the last week or so.  OP do you have a Ch. 7 or 13?

I have a Chapter7 that was filed in September 2016.

Well the good news is that I have found that many lenders look at 7 more favorably than 13 lol  You may have to wait awhile for Amex, but there are definitely lenders out there for you.   Just keep rebuilding and you will work your way up to them.  Have you checked out the BK friendly CC thread?  It seems to be geared more for 7 filers than 13.  Best wishes on your rebuild!
