My fiance was about to add me as an AU to the same card, shes active duty military so the AF is waived for her. I can really hold out until 10 days and just get the AMEX from NFCU.
@Anonymous ..That is a Smart Move! .. The NFCU More Rewards is a Excellent card & You should be rewarded with a very Nice SL.
Hope to see your approval in the approvals thread.
+1 for sure. They would probably toss you a 1k limit which isn't as much fun on a travel card like that. Free add on as an AU? I'd take that any day!

I've always found the term "Pre-Qualified offer" to be misleading. It almost can be as you pre qualify for the offer but not the card, which is meant to just trick you into applying (this is my theory). The reason I say that is if your score EX score is 650, you in theory should not be pre-qualified for this card. All data points I've read, Amex does not open the door until around 670 (good threshbold) and anything below that are starte limits. Are there event starter limits on the Amex Plat? Anyway, just my thoughts. Pre-quals are alwys confusing and tricky.
Did you apply?

I went ahead and held off. I only have 3 inq in the last 24 months on EX but I'll just hold off because I hate denials.

I know. Tell me about it. Well good luck in the future when you do decide to do it.
Amex prequals are in no way a guarantee. But the fact that you got a few hits is a great sign that you are headed in the right direction.
But your scores are still a bit low. My EX was 704 when I got the green.
Make sure the rest ofyour CR is solid. utilization is low. no derogs etc.
If you don't get an imediate approval, my guess is you are in for closer scrutiny and anything that would give them pause might cause a denial.
But when you are ready the Gold or Platinum minimum spend requirement for the SUB is a perfect oppurtunity to use it for your wedding or honeymoon. Just remember it's "borrowed money".

Just want to add my 2cents. A NFCU AmX is not a true AmX. It only rents space on AmX's platform.
However, with that being said, I love my NFCU products--every last single one of them. 😁

It is only a true Amex if it is spelled "Magnate"
