Hey y'all,
I was prequalified for the AMEX blue card today and they gave me a hard APR- does this mean I likely would be preapproved? My FICO: EX 715,
TU: 703, EQ: 738. I have quite a few Citi cards recommended as well(via Experian, Credit Karma). My income is $32000. I recently was approved for a Discover with a $7500 SL, and a Mercury MC at $1500. I paid off my Oportune with a BT from Disco. My income is low but I have no mortgage, no student loans(paid off). Would y'all pull the trigger on AMEX or look at some Citi offerings? Which of the 2 companies offer a higher SL, typically speaking(I want to keep my UTI down)? If anyone has a Citi card, how do you like it? Thanks in advance. My 32k income does not include my self-employment. I usually pull in $1000/monthly thereby, giving me a $44000 income. Thanks in advance.
Prequalified and pre-approval are the basically the same, but they're meaningless in terms of what interest rate and credit limit you might receive if you decide to apply and are actually approved. That will be based on their own underwriting criteria, which includes a number of factors such as your income, creditworthiness, other available credit, etc..
With your scores you probably would be approved for a Blue. Or a charge, or an Everyday.
I would take anything from AMEX before I would take something from Citi. I've had huge issues with Citi and have decided to let me DC wither away.
The question is are you looking for a cashback card or points miles card.
I would also get into with Amex first, if you're good with them... your relationship & CL and options will grow faster than with Citi
I concur with @EAJuggalo . American Express over Citi.
I'll pile on here and say I'd agree with everyone else.
Amex > Citi
In my opinion, Amex outshines Citi in every aspect

Absolutely @Cashbackjunky , American Express. No contest.
Given that the OP's requesr for feedback was made 5 months ago it's probably a safe bet that they already made their decision and applied appropriately. ;-)

They also haven't been back since making this thread...
