AMEX duped into a CLI request?

Chatted with a rep online....he said I was eligible for a CLI even though my 180 day deadline is coming next month....hmmm...he convinced me to pull the trigger...got the  7 -10 day message...I'm screwed now...have to wait for another 180 days???

Re: AMEX duped into a CLI request?

If you were denied a CLI, you only have to wait 90 days. Wait and see what the reason is (if you were in fact denied). If it's because you had a CLI within the last 180 days (because you tried too soon), you can still try again when your intial 180 days would have been up

CSR's are unfortunately notorious for providing erroneous info. When in doubt (and U perceive the info you've received to be questionable) its not a bad idea to consult board first as many herein hav received similar faulty info - but yes, if decline is due to requesting too soon U merely need to request again @ appropriate time, no reset involved.

Re: AMEX duped into a CLI request?

Was told the same by rep over phone and the rep was also very misinformed. The letter was just the "Too soon" reason so it was fine. Amex CSR's have been getting worse year-by-year.

Re: AMEX duped into a CLI request?

Yeah. I remember requesting a CLI within the first 60 days. I went online and specifically asked the rep if it would be a soft pull or a hard pull. Dude says soft pull. So based on that I went ahead and requested a CLI. Not only was it denied, Amex pulled me. I am still not clear on whether its a soft pull or hard pull for CLI with Amex. Well, I suppose the pull clarified that!Smiley Mad

From what I  read here, AMEX CLI are soft pulls, can someone confirm this?

They can HP if they want. This is the first report I see that they HP for a CLI, so I will say that Amex CLI are 99% SP.

ACtually you don't have to wait another 90 days as you pulled the trigger early. this has been tested over and over. just on your true date. go and try again. you letter will tell you it has not been 180 days since your last increase. so you will still be good to go.
