Re: AMEX "Provide required information"

Seems so. I wasn't aware of the 30 day window thing - so I may have burned myself with AMEX there. I was thinking about some Amazon CB since I order so much from Amazon regularly and during the holidays, but it's not important enough to run another app next week!

Good news is I don't think that signup offer for BCE is going anywhere so you have some time

Re: AMEX "Provide required information"

Ok, spoke with a supervisor.

These are the details according to that person:

My application was approved through the automated system for the Blue Cash Everyday card. Thats why it says "approved" through the automation line.

The application then got automatically "cancelled" immediately after when it recognizes that I already have a cash rewards card. I can apply for a points type card, or a business cash card, or even another card that might offer "cash back" - it just can't be one of the Blue Cash Everyday, the Blue Cash Preferred, or the Blue Cash Magnet (which I currently  have), because according to the representative a person can have only ONE of those THREE type cards as of about a year ago. Accounts opened prior to that time may be different.

I can request an "upgrade" to the Preffered card.

I can apply for any other products without penalty or having to wait a certain amount of time since the app was cancelled and not a decline technically.

I guess I am riding with the Magnet card.

Interesting, thanks for the information there. Something I'll have to keep in mind and bookmark for future reference

That's definitely interesting.  I had all 3 (Cash Magnet, BCP and most recently BCE) without any restrictions as far as cashback product family goes 🤷‍♂️.  BCE was the last one approved a few months back, but Cash Magnet had been open for a couple of years.  I closed CM like a month or so ago.   Maybe some product policy changed recently?

That's my guess too because it's the first I've heard of it. Dunno what would trigger this change since AMEX already limits the number of revolvers a person can hold at one time. Seemed to me like a good deterrent from someone just nabbing every card they can charge cards notwithstanding. Because not many people would want to hold at least two of the Blue cards it's going to be difficult to find more datapoints on this

It's interesting that the would block the combo of CM & BCP/BCE, instead of just limiting you to one of the grocery cards, since they fill different roles in a cash back wallet.  You'd think AMEX would want the swipes from both slots if someone was willing to give it to them.

@Anonymous wrote:

I decided to apply for the Blue Cash Everyday Card through an Amazon banner because of the Amazon CB offer, I currently have an Amex Cash magnet card opened about 30 days ago with no curent balance. I logged in with my account info and submitted the prefilled app with my info but received a message it could not be approved at this time. I got an email a minute or so later telling me I could check on my decision, and when I log in there and next to the app details under Status Of Application it says "Provide required information", and to the right of that under Action Required it says "To view the full decision details click here".

The problem is when I click on the link and enter my birthdate info it says "Sorry, your application cannot be accessed.
Please try again later." So it looks like I am going to have to call to find out what is what here.

Just seeing if anyone has experienced this before and has any idea if I am just outright denied, or if it is identity verification or...?

I do have credit freezes I temp lifted for the process so I assume it isn't an issue there.

I'll bump this thread to the top as I find myself in this same predicament.  I applied for the BCP last night.  I'll call tomorrow and report back the DP.  For reference, I was approved for the Cash Magnet on 6/30.

Thanks for replying. I think I will call Amex this afternoon. I did temporary lift the freeze on my Experian - but it's possible I didn't give it enough time to process before submitting the app. I'll update when I learn something after calling.

Thanks!

I was told on my end from Amex that , that error message is because you have applied for another card within a 5 day period it's a fraud protection. After 5 days you can apply again via SP since you are an Amex customer .

Re: AMEX "Provide required information"

Update:

Cash Magnet and BCP is in the same "Family" of cards and you're only allowed one of them per Amex CSR.  Application was cancelled.
