Re: AOD Salt

Sorry for the denial @MoneyBurns

You can always get a Discover It Miles. 1.5% plus 1.5% match = totally uncapped 3% for the first year. Then you can try for the AOD card 6-12 months down the line.

Re: AOD Salt

Yes, you are right. Crunching the numbers, I'm doing what makes the most logical sense with my time and my compensation for it.

So in the same light AOD is doing the same -(crunching the numbers) so I can't really blame them.

And yes, I'll just not speak into the matter of UI.

Sorry if it veered off topic.

Ill give Discover a look over! If my carrier takes Discover I'll gladly try for them.

ETA: Only Visa and MasterCard... Darn! Oh well! Thanks for the suggestion though!

So again, DTI is a huge factor for them. They won't even count my employed job from last year even after emailing them all my w2s. I'm just salty even more now cause I paid off my balance transfers EARLY.

I am still going to keep my savings with them. Maybe after a few more months they'll give it to me after I go back to regular work.

So my questions is this - for those of you who were denied, what did you do with the salt? Did you apply for another bank and give them money with one of their credit cards? Is there a decent card with a good sign up bonus that has good spend for medical insurance or doctor's visits? That's why I wanted the 3% cause all my other cards cover everything else!

I also took out my every last cent (around 5k that I had with them - didn't want to put more in their 2.5% low rate (cause I bank with others WAY better rates and ATM accessibility to deposit CASH) from their Kasasa account. The people there are super nice, it's just their underwriting makes no sense (to me) 😂 They don't deserve my money then.

26k in UI benefits and NONE of it counts.

I wish there were another unicorn.

*sigh*

Rant over.

Many banks ask for proof of income and won't take unemployment as a source. Be happy for the ones that did. I don't think AOD will ever count your UI as income. I'd wait until you could work again and then apply, otherwise you'd probably get the same result no matter how much time has past.

To answer your question about doctor visits, BBVA has a card, the Clearpoints card where you choose your categories. You choose a 3% category and 2% category. Health category covers a lot of things health related. Doctors, dentist, pharmacy etc. etc.  this could work very well for your doctor visits. (All of the categories cover a wide range of things)

Could try PayPal Key if that works with Discover @MoneyBurns

That's the plan. After I'm back to normal income for a couple of months, and if AOD is still offering I may try again.

ETA: I'm going to try the BBVA idea. After my balances report, I'll go down to a branch and ask.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Smiley Happy

Re: AOD Salt

@MoneyBurns even though it was a long shot with UI being accepted as "income" or "wages", I can attest to the fact that they do make up whatever they want your income to be if it is any different than traditional 40/hr week W2 employment. If they have to read more than 1 line item on your checkstub or tax returns, they discard it. Along with any secondary sources of income as "unreliable" - which in my case was absolutely not.

There was a promising post in the AOD mega thread about less than traditional income that has given me some hope, in addition to the fact that I have used them as my primary bank, including DD, for the past year.

Re: AOD Salt

I don't understand the salt. Would you loan someone without a job and steady source of income $5k?
