My BK is almost 3yo. I prev had several AX cards all in good standing none of which were IIB. I applied for the Delta AX last month and was declined. I began writing letters to EO regarding this. At first I got the standard form letter reply back but eventually my persistence paid off and today I was contacted by Mr. Rory Davies with the EO Referral Group. He stated that they sent my app to Sr. Underwriting for review. He stated that they liked my low UT and payment hx since my BK was DC. He stated that although they are still declining my App he believes that I should re-apply at the 4 yr mark and would have a good chance at approval. He stated that AX is in the proccess of relaxing their standards towards BK. Stated it used to be 7 yrs is now closer to 5yrs and may go lower. He stated that AX will keep all notes regarding this call and my correspondance on file so when I re-apply at the 4 yr mark the underwriters can review those notes. I will keep the forum updated. As I prev mentioned in other posts I have no desire to have an AX charge card again but some of their branded cards such as the Delta Sky Miles, Hilton card etc do appeal to me.
Believe it is 5 years, although never had a BK.. Just remember reading that somewhere. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.
The person I talked to at EO said it is curr 5yrs with some exceptions but subject to change and stated that AX is relaxing its standards each year concerning BKs. I will try again at 4yrs and keep everyone updated on my success.

no, it wont help. Amex has a long memory...they wont give you another card unless you pay them back! now..If you pay them back, they will consider you again a lot sooner....
That is absolutely correct. If you dont pay them back you will be blacklisted indef. My OP was only in regards to those who did not IIB.

Actually, that's not quite true.
I had a BK7 back in 2000, and an American Express account was included. Just this last April, I was approved for a Green card and a BCP. The terms on my BCP aren't great (21.9% after promo, only $1K SL) but it was approved. I never repaid the amount written off in the BK (it was significant).
In case there's any question, they definitely remember... when I login it shows my original 1995 'Member Since' date, without my asking for it. Also, my first CLI was declined due to "previous negative American Express account experience"
There are lots of tales of the infamous 'black list', but there are also numerous reports of folks, like myself, who were able to get back in.
