Hey all.
I read in another thread that Citi is kinda finicky about approving people for their CC's in terms of blemished reports, so I'm hoping to find out if I fall into that category before I apply with them.
I'm considering applying for one of their better BT cards in about a week or so. I just got done paying a bunch of debt off and my UT and everything else looks really good. Here's my info...
UT on all cards is about $7500/75000. Scores are all around 770 or so. Oldest account is about 15 years old. Not sure on my AAoA, not sure how to find that out.
Income is $85,000. My most recent CC is from about 2 months ago. Before that, I got a few new cards about 7 months ago or so. Inq's is about 5-9 depending on the bureau.
The only negative thing I have in my report is about 6-7 years ago or so, I was late on my mortgage and my rentals mortgate by 30 days 4 times total.
I've never been late before on anything else. Could those late payments potentially hold me back from getting a Citi card?
Also what do you guys think I might be able to get for a SL? All my CC's are in the 4k to 12k range.
Thanks for the help.
Hey Trial
When paying down my debt, I hadn't even thought of worrying nesecarily about UT per card. I have like 8 cards, and all of em are way under 30%. Except for the following...
One B of A that has a $2500 limit (my smallest limit card), and it's got like a $1700 balance on it though. I didn't worry bout messing with it because that $1700 is on there from a 0% BT offer I accepted that still has like a year to go on it.
I do have a Barclays card that has about $2800 on it at a 10K limit. And a Discover card that has about $1800 on it and a $11,800 limit.
The rest of my cards have maybe a few hundred on em. All totalling up to about $7500.
For card, I'm not 100% sure. Just hoping to get one that has a HIGH SL, and is good for BT's. I guess that card that offers up to 21 months 0%APR for BT's. Sorry forget which one that is. Ok, I just looked it up. The Simplicity card.
I actually have checked their prequal page and have never ever gotten an offer. I last checked a few days ago. But I'm not completely current with my scores. I paid down about $15,000 in debt in the last few weeks. About $8000 of which was just today.
That $8000 should show up on my credit reports about a week from today. I was considering trying the prequal page again when that happens just to see if I actually finally do get an offer. But who's to say that Citi's info they'd have on file for me would be that current?
Well I'll be damned LOL.
For the hell of it I just checked Citi's prequal page and there's an offer for the Simplicity card!
I last checked maybe 2 to 3 days ago and had nada just like always.
That's awesome.
I guess when I finally get the rest of my debt shown as paid in about a week, I should have an excellent shot at the Simplicity card.
Well I guess I'm good to go.
Thanks TrialByFire for your help.
I'm actually kind of shocked at how fast Citi updated their info on me.

What is the Simplicity APR after the 0% promo period expires? Is it a range, or a single APR number?
The Citi prequal page can be squirley, changing around if your file isn't quite good. I got low APR early in 2015, but then the offers went back to ranges, then after June back to lowest APR again, so that's when I decided to app.
Hi NRB525.
I just ran the citi prequal and it still says I'm pre-qualed (I Was really nervous that it wouldn't anymore).
It also said this...
