I have had my Amex Blue Cash Everyday card for about 16 months and had no CLI since then. I am wondering if now would be a good time to request an increase. My Experian score is 718 and Util is just under 30%. I also have an offer to upgrade to the Blue Cash Preferred card - not sure if that's a better card to own or if I should look for some other Amex alternative.
Also, does AMEX do a HP for CLI?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Whether or not to upgrade to the BCP would be tied to your grocery spend - basically if your average grocery bill is more than about $60 a week the additional earnings on the BCP over the BCE justifies the annual fee. Even better would be if they offered you a bonus as an incentive to upgrade.
You may want to knock down that utilization number before attempting a CLI.
Oh, and CLI requests are soft pulls.
BCP also pays out at 6% on streaming services and those are defined pretty liberally. I get the percentage back on streaming TV service, Netflix, Hulu, my son's monthly Xbox Live and Game Pass, Sirius/XM in three cars, Apple purchases through iTunes, etc. That definitely sweetens the deal.
