Advice/Help needed

Background- I have lots of credit accounts totaling to about 45,000 in credit lines and about 8,000 used. but my age of accounts is about 1yr and 6 months cause I’m just 21.
My first CC was with capital one, Journey $300. I used it like any 18 yr old would. Maxed out nearly felt bad then paid in full and then used again etc. Well after a few months they would push my limit up and up until about a year and a half later they offered $2000 and the Quicksilver card. From what I’ve read in here, I’m doomed. No CLI. It’s been over two years since I accepted the offer and have not had a CLI since. It’s my oldest account so I don’t want to close it but it doesn’t offer crap for me. I so badly want to use it for the rewards and cause I want to stay loyal to who first approved me buuuuut all my limits are the tippy tops every where else. WM MasterCard, $10000. Kohl’s CC (which is capital one I think, ironically) $3000, Navy Fed Platinum $11,000, care Credit $12,000, NFCU CLOC $15,000, i bought my first home at 19, but I can’t get a freaking credit limit increase?!?
Should I app for another card to mash the limits? How does that effect AAoA and my score? Or do I just abandon this account until I’m old enough to close? I’m scared if I close now it’ll hurt bad cause how old I am.

Re: Advice/Help needed

Unless there is a fee associated with it then keeping it open isn't costing you anything. Just tuck it away and move on. Cap One is funny but not in the HA HA kind of way. My oldest card is with them (GM BuyPower) and it won't grow a lick no matter how many times I ask. It currently sits at $1500 limit with a balance of 0 and I have no intentions of using it.

Being loyal towards a specific lender is fine but when the chips are down they will not reciprocate. It is strictly a financial relationship.

Plus they will hang around. Cap One was my first. I stopped using it and it stayed around a good 8 years without use reporting happily every month. Eventually they closed it and a few years ago disapeared, but it kept giving while I got other things and built up. So don't feel bad and it won't hurt you to sock it while you use other cards.

Re: Advice/Help needed

It sucks it has to be that way- But no fee so I guess I’ll try to drop it. It’s just one of those things where it’s like, WHY.
My husbands does have a fee and it’s his oldest account as well. What should he do with it, since it is costing $19 a year to have it. I’ve had him call to ask about waiving it or getting rid of it and no luck. Is product changing a thing, and would that effect his age of accounts at all?

Good luck to ya with the product change. I know others have had a lot of success with PCing to another Cap 1 card but that has not been my experience. I had the QS1 for a while and tried to get it changed to avoid the fee....no dice.

Thanks for the link. It worked and let him try to PC to QS1, BUT said “keep existing fee” so essentially he would get to earn rewards on a card we never use because we can’t get a CLI -_- I didn’t do it

Re: Advice/Help needed

I have 2 Cap1 accounts. 12 years old and 10 years old. These are my oldest open bankcards and they are the smallest CLs.  They have no AF so every couple months I run down to McDonalds and put a happy meal on them.  I cant close em either
