Affinity FCU cash rewards

Hi Everyone,

I am hoping to get approved for the Affinity FCU cash rewards, but need some tips or advice. I am not a member, do I need to be a member for a while before applying for this card? Or can I join and apply next to right away? Maybe 4 pulls since Jan, 1 new card since Jan. I am debt free, besides some small balances that remain on card from time to time (payments just dont go through in time sometimes). FICO 8 of around 690. What are my chances? Not sure if this is a "tough" card to get..

Discover IT $4,300 | US Bank Cash Plus $1000 | Capital One Savor One $1,500 | Citi Custom Cash $2,400 | Citi Double Cash $2,400 | Affinity FCU Cash Rewards $12,000 | American Express Platinum | American Express Gold

Re: Affinity FCU cash rewards

I signed up for membership in Jan, parked a few thousand in their savings account and waited. I never got a preapproval with them but decided to apply recently and was approved. My Ex FICO 8 was 702 at approval. Honestly I thought it was a Hail Mary at the time and was very surprised by the approval and limit. There are a lot of threads on the Affinity Cash Rewards which you should use the search feature to check out. From what I gather it is on the harder side to get and the limits of your other cards play a factor as well. You may want to get the membership and wait a bit and grow the cards you have.

How much CL you received? Do u think waiting a bit after being a member really matters?

@Janneman

They gave me 25k which was 9k above my highest limit. I think that it helped for me but every profile is different. OP's card limits are lower overall and his score is a bit below mine when I applied so recommended they wait a bit. YMMV.

Re: Affinity FCU cash rewards

I joined Affinity in January, and got the "list" of pre-approved offers in April. It said I was pre-approved for 35k at their lowest rate, and that is what they gave me.

Given that their SmartSavings account is so good, parking some money and waiting for a quarter can't hurt.

When you signed up for the membership in Jan, was it SP or hP? Did you open and park your money only in saving a/c or in checking a/c as well?

@Janneman

Soft pull. No checking account just savings.

I have their cc for the last 2 years...I got the SUB $200 after spending $3k in the first 90 days but they forced me to open a checking account to give the SUB...I never heard any other person who was asked to open checking account in order to get SUB amount...Rather than statement credit, I wanted send me the money thru check or whatever way...so they asked me to open a checking account...

btw, the saving a/c u opened, is the same that we must need to open in order to join them or to get their membership?
