Yea stay away from Affirm. It codes as a CFA and actually hurts your scores.

I used to use it more back with SYNCH when I could get 0% on $500 purhase for 6 months. Now I only it onece every 4 months for under $100 and then PIF.
You might be better off just going to your local CU and getting a card than waiting for a CAP ONE product, or using Affirm.
I don't have the Walmart card. I didn't realize CO stopped the promo payment options. Thanks!
Sorry OP!
Actually, I've paid through Affirm on a couple occasions (Bissell and Walmart). Not only was there never a hard pull on either, but neither showed on my credit report.
I used affirm once before finding this forum. It continues to ding my Ex by 8-10 points compared to the other CBs and it is the only differing information, so it's absolutly that doing the damage.
I've used Affirm. I've looked at my experian credit report to determine the coding of closed Affirm accounts. They are all coded as an unsecured loans. On my experian report, it's divided in the area of personal loans. The coding is the same as the lending club loan I had years ago. With that being said, Affirm loans are not coded as consumer financing accounts but as an unsecured loans. I hope I've been helpful. Good luck.

This isn't a visible coding which is why it's so infuriating. It shows up specifically in the FICO auto and mortgage reason codes but not until your credit score is high enough to drown out more damaging reason codes. It's a very minor ding but it's definitely a ding. FICO 8 and 9 seem to be a silent ding since people still report a score hit despite not having the reason codes.

I think you're an outlier then.
I have an account with Affirm and it's reporting as an installment loan. Just like my car loan. It reports only to Experian. It doesn't appear to report monthly either. My June payment was just posted. It raised my score 4 points. I'm using a 0% promotion through SimplyMac
Please excuse my ignorance CFA stands for?
