Assuming you have selected a pre-approval offer and submitted an application, how did it go for you?   Is there an update? 🤔

The OP did not say he did a BK which would be a discharge of the debt. The OP stated that he paid the old account. A BK may allow people back in but I have yet to see a paid CO that allowed someone back into Discover. I wonder who's memory is in question.

Thanks

Mark

Paid old co..they let me back in after 7 yrs..

I believe you look more responsible if you file BK , where a collection appears less responsible especially unpaid.

As I originally mentioned Disco will forgive after BK and a little longer if it's a paid collection as others have chimed in with me from experience.

They are not elephants like chase, Amex  and Barclays.

lol.. I couldn't file Bk... my paid home would have been taken away for BK ..for all but $10,000

if somehow discover doesnt extend a credit to you then dont worry..there are many cards out there from other lenders which are way better than discover...besides, discover is not the same as it used to be 2 yrs ago or prior to that..

Re: Aged Off Discovers Black List

Some are saying that Discover has a real long memory, but I had the complete opposite experience. I had a $3500 charge off (the full credit limit of the card) with Discover which was never paid and I fully expected that the only way I'd ever be able to get another Discover card would be repayment.

Within 30 days of the original debt falling off my reports I got a preapproval online and figured.. what the heck.. lets try it. Completed the application and got an instant approval for $5k with a 675 TU score. Never, ever in a million years would I have expected an approval with a decent credit limit.. especially a limit higher than they had charged off previously!
