Received my letter from Alliant CU basically stating that I had too many recent inquiries. I called today to see if they might be willing to start with a low limit just to get my foot in the door, but the gentleman I spoke to said that with as many new inquiries/accounts that I have, that I need to wait to 3 to 6 months and reapply, so they can see how I handle my new accounts.

I had two installments reporting. I anticipated a drop when I traded in one auto and bought two.
Doing the shared loan helped my scores not to plummet. I only loss 7 points on EQ and 3 on TU.
Those should return when the secured loan reports below 9% next month. That's atleast what I'm hoping. Lol
Right now including the secured loan. I have 4 installments reporting. My Advantage scores went through the roof when it hit and I closed 5 cards.
+1
I still have three PIF installment accounts reporting on TU (one is a mortgage and the other two are student loans) and my TU Vantage score is 30-40 points higher than my EQ Vantage score (apparently the Vantage model really likes installment loans). There is a difference with my FICO scores as well (the three PIF installment accts are the only difference) but it's not as drastic. All three accounts will have been PIF for ten years next spring/summer.
TU is also my bureau with the lowest number of inquiries at four... too bad there are no TU pullers I need right now!
Once things settle down a bit I will be checking into a share-secured installment loan as well, and Alliant is high on my list. I would prefer to get one with USAA or NFCU since I'm already established with them, but it seems Alliant has more flexibility and would be better suited to my purpose.
Until the time is right, I'll continue to keep up with all the Alliant info being shared on the forum!

Thanks for taking the time! I just signed up with them last month. I also did shared secured loan. It was reported on the 31st of May And showed up on the reports around the 4th of June.
What's the time frame on these quarterly soft pulls?
When is the next one due to hit? Anyone knowTheir shared secured loan is awesome for those that do not have any installment loans reporting.
OK, so my question is Baller, will they compete against our PF CL's? If so I may have to "uproot" myself from the Garden lol

You can join with a sp on EQ. But, most of us are waiting on pre-approval for a card. They email out special offers for sign up bonuses ranging from 30k to 50k points. Which is equivalent to a free $300 to $500. But, to answer your question they are generous. But, not as much as Penfed. Their cards only go to $25k I believe. And they don't like a lot of new accounts.
ETA: Max cc is actually $50k.

Cool, TY. I will stay planted then. At least until after we refi the homestead.
Which credit bureau does Alliant usually soft pull?
Another data point, mobile deposits made any day,any time or credited to your account immediately! Nights, weekends, holidays as well as ATM deposits. This is after the first 30 days of membership. I have never seen this from any bank or CU! I am absolutely amazed at Alliant.
ETA: I forgot to mention their max mobile deposit of $50k. Insane!
Was the denial for the credit card, auto-loan or both?
Thank you!

Figured I would share my experience with Alliant to benefit others.
I made my donation and joined.
All smooth sailing.
I then added an external account for funding. In one business day the verifcation deposit was done and I was verified.
My account was placed on restriction. I called in where they requested I verify my identity.
I emailed them 3 documents and my account was immediately un-restricted.
Interestingly enough the day after I opened my accounts I got a pre-approval letter for a car loan.
Now from knowledge I know people are waiting for the quarterly SP offer for the Visa.
I figured what the heck lets roll the dice and see...
It came back denied because of my 1 yr old BK.
So I decided to recon the denial...
Turns out (for future reference of anyone with a BK) the LO was extremely impressed with my rebuild and high CL's with Cap 1/NFCU/Penfed,
Alliant's underwriting wants to see either 1 year of re-established payments and or 2 years post BK.
I was told to re-apply in 1Q of 17' - I am also establishing a Secured Shared Loan so that should help me out with them !
Customer service was excellent as was the LO.
I will be transitioning all of my business to NFCU/PenFed & Alliant.
