Am I actually pre-approved?

PNC has a pre-approval, Not sure if its only for customers or their secured CC customers however I gave it a shot and got the screen i posted is it worth a shot?Screen Shot 2020-01-06 at 6.04.13 AM.png

Looks more like marketing to me.

The words “we recommend” and the lack of a solid APR are good clues that this isn’t a targeted preapproval.

I do know in the past when I clicked that button to see if i was pre-selected it would say no.

That’s more marketing... I take it you bank with them?

You’ll see true pre approvals from them either via email or the current offers link with solid APR. They use the Fico 09 scoring model. Generally from Experian.

Hey! My wife actually had a similar situation because she banks with PNC as well. She had a set solid APR on her recommendation and was still denied. I would take any offers they give you as a grain of salt and always prepare for a hard inquiry with no outcome as worst case

These words of caution should not just apply to PNC, but instead to any lender. Preapprovals are a good indicator that one MAY be approved, but are never a guarantee. I've been successful with PNC preapprovals, as have many others.

My preapprovals show preapproved credit limit and solid apr
