Ok I know this is *probably* the wrong group of people to ask this but I'm whittling down my card portfolio and simplifying. Anything under $10k is going bye bye. This Chase Amazon has been at $1,000 for over 5 years. Got it smack in the middle of my rebuild. So I was gonna ask for a CLI on it and take the hard pull (I've got a few to spare), but then thought about it again. I hadnt apped for anything since 2017 *BUT* in Dec of 2020 I got a Freedom Flex, Penfed Gold, and NFCU Platinum. Then in Dec of 21 I got the Aspiration Zero, FNBO Evergreen, and a Chase Ink. That puts me at 6/24, plus I did a new car loan in October. Am I asking to get slapped by them? Thoughts?
I've observed that the best way to grow your total credit line at Chase is to apply for new cards then reallocate CLs, as opposed to applying for CLIs. Since you're at 5/24 (the Ink doesn't count against you), that's off the table until January 2022.
I'd hold onto the Chase Amazon, reallocate some CL from your CFF if needed this year, then apply for another Chase card next year.

I don't think you're getting CLI.
You can garden, use card more, or make do with what you have but based on what you typed there, $500.00 would be a shocking surprise to me.
Ok great advice guys. I was headed for the increase button but then a little voice in my head started screaming. Very crazy that I'm over 5/24 after laying low for so long.
I think I'm done with Chase cards tbh. Unless there's something else on the business front in the future I'm good. Was hoping the Amazon card would be a keeper, but I could say goodbye at this point.
@805orbust If you decide to close the Chase Amazon Prime card (be sure to reallocate its $1k CL to your CFF at the same time so you don't lose it), you can always apply for the Affinity FCU Cash Rewards Visa Signature card to keep the 5% rewards at Amazon.

1. The 5/24 rule has nothing to do with CLI's.
2. There's nothing in what you have said that makes me think you should fear going ahead with a CLI application.
3. A good method for getting a CLI from Chase, and especially with that Amazon card, has been to put some heavy spend on it and hope for an auto CLI.

Actually, more often than not, members have cited getting declined for a Chase CLI due to the 5/24 restriction. Plenty of DPs on that if you search around.
I could definitely muster heavy spend on that card, it's just annoying. Between Whole Foods and random things from Amazon it could happen. Iirc there may even be some offers for non-Amazon stuff in there. I mainly have it set as a preferred pmt method in my Prime account. They did issue an auto CLI on the Flex about 6 or 7 months in last summer, but I was spending about 3k a month on that. Definitely can't accomplish that with a $1000 limit. I've got about $300 in mp3's I've gotta buy right now 😂

$300 on a $1000 cc is easily doable and if you pif , not an issue
