AmEx 3x CLI denied x2

I tried this last week for my 2 AmEx cards, was denined on both!!!  In the 60 days I've had them i've run about 20k through the pair of cards already!  At time of CLI request one was 0-1% and the other was 50% or so.  I reconned by phone and they said they would send a letter.  The letter said "Due to recent bankruptcy we can not approve your request". Both cards.  The thing is the ch7 was over 5 years ago, and I was approved for the cards 60 days ago.  The limits are in my sig.  What is going on?

How much did you request? If you requested 3x for each of the 10k or 5 that's quite a big jump with respect to the limits on your other cards. Granted they could have come back with a lower amt but they may want more history with them.

They've given you a great opportunity with those limits, but wish to reserve the right to be cautious due to the bk. even though you've had the heavy usage and pay history, they don't want to take that risk just yet. I think the cards will grow within time.

With a BK in your past, be very happy AMEX started you off with $15k of credit, and realize it is probably going to take a year of heavy usage, perfect psayments, to have any chance to convince them you really need more credit.

I asked for 2x on each. Understood, I was beyond excited when I was originally approved for those cards with the limits I received.

This comes up a lot when Amex has reached the maximum amount they're comfortable lending you at the time. The bankruptcy is just the most convenient excuse. 

Show more history with the cards, and in 90 days try again. Eventually they will get comfortable lending you more.

Your first mistake was trying to get a CLI on two different cards.  Amex will only give one CLI every six months no matter how many cards you have with them.  Once you were denied for the first one, your chances at success were over and you have to wait another 90 days to try on either card.

I was declined the 1st time at the 60 day mark. Tried again after 90 days. Got 3x approved. Now the limit is still my lowest line at 3k. But my Fico is ~670 with a CO from 6 years ago. From what I read you can only request 1 card for CLI every 6 months.

sorry for denial. all i got to know was, you can't get CLI on more than 1 card between 61 days or 181 days. I was decliend for my 2nd card CLI when i asked before 181 days of last cli increase.

so i m waiting for july 10th, to request the 3xcli.

It was your low Experian score plus as was said above, you can only get one cli on one card. Plus they don't do a soft pull at the time you try for the cli. They use the last secret soft pull they did on you to determine if you will be increased or not.

Wait 90 days, try to get your utilization on all cards down, and scores over 700, and just go for the cli on one card. Keep in mind your soft pull will be done way before you apply for the cli.
