AmEx 3xCLI on activation denied, gun question

As the title states, I got my BCE in the mail today and got the 7-10 day message on 3xCLI. Oh well. I'll try again after 90 days. For anyone that cares, I also asked the reps if purchasing guns is frowned upon or flagged somehow. Both reps said no, it is a rumor that AmEx does not like gun purchases, and that I may use that card to purchase whatever I like without fear of Adverse Action. I might just need to get that M&P Shield to meet my spend bonus. lol

That's it!! Right after I got my BCE I got the 7-10 day message and turned down for CLI. One of my first excursions with the BCE was ammo and a new clip for my .380 - now it makes sense!

LOL I am all stocked up on ammo. But I just sold one of my .380s (the Ruger LCP) and I feel like I need to replace it with something else. That empty spot in the safe where the Ruger used to be is bothering me. Might break in the AmEx.

LOL. Was just thinking even if Amex (could apply to others as well) frowned upon certain purchases it would hardly be their best interest to openly admit such a thing. Then again as I always say... whenever U think no one is watching....

Very true. Oh well. I guess if they don't like my purchases I will just start using a different card or go back to cash. They did ask if I would be buying from reputable dealers, and I answered of course I would. I wonder what they would have said if I told them no, I would be using their card to buy illegal weapons from a felon. lol

They can care less what you purchase as long as they make money and  you pay them back.. Do they keep track of your spending habits, yes..  Other than that, don't worry about it.

That's pretty much what she told me. She said that as long as customers pay the bill, they don't care what you buy. And then she made a joke about how they will destroy your credit score if you don't pay the bill. Not funny... ok, it was a little funny.

They could give a damn where you use your card. If a store has a merchant account set up to take Am Ex cards, and you have available credit, that is all that matters. They get their merchant fees and you make your payments.

I wouldn't even get caught up in baseless rumors.

Whoever fed you those lies are on crack.  Amex doesn't care whether you buy a gun or not.  As long as they get their swipe fees, that is all they care about....

Considering how many people took part of the sportsman's guide visa in the past, I'm sure very few actually looked at the store's firearm offerings, and that's a big NO on adverse action buying. Used my Delta card for five pieces in one transaction.
