This is just info for those working to raise their AmEx credit limits. I have $20k BCE and $17k Hilton cards. Asked for $30k ($50k total between 2 cards) on my Hilton 3 months ago and they asked for income verification. I provided bank statements, but was denied with no counter offer.
Button went blue again today, so I asked for $20k ($40k total between 2 cards) on my Hilton and was denied with no counter offer.
My cards grew super fast the first year, but haven't grown since. Still, I have $37k of credit with AmEx, and I don't really need more, but I thought I'd at least ask and see.

Bummer I wonder if it is total exposure with them or total exposure with profiles I can't get anything more from them nor dh these days .
Of course they always tell me inquiries and new accounts (guilty as charged ) but I am beginning to wonder.
That's annoying. But you still have good CL's with them. So that's atleast something. Maybe as your accounts age and your spend increases they will be more accomodating.
strange that they won't budge on that CL
If you don't mind me asking, what's the reported annual income, and did your bank statements support what you told them?
I think I'm at the limit with them as well @Varsity_Lu , just opened a new account Delta SkyMiles, with a pretty low limit (5K)
I intend on using it for the categories I'll earn miles in, get all the credits, monthly/annually, at the very least to justify it.
I may move 1,500 from my everyday sometime this year after flight or two to help with utilization(?) which I don't intend on allowing to report a balance, if and when I've used it enough (1-2K) through it a few months a year I'm going to try and bump it to 19.5k.
I haven't been able to get a large increase in years. Usage on BCP is essentially the categories.
My last request was $3000 to $9000 on Hilton, I got $5900. With my bcp that puts me at 45% reported income. I don't spend much on Hilton, more on bcp. Next time it's blue, I'll try bcp cli, see if I get anything. Maybe get to 50%.
Where do I find this big blue button?
I have the Amex Hilton Honors since April 2025 with $1000 starting limit that I would like to increase. I have been with Amex since 1986 and currently use my Amex Delta Skymiles Reserve card for everything with a $75k limit.
Current credit scores hovering around 720 and climbing with a 40% credit utilization...
Thanks.
That’s frustrating when you’ve got such strong scores and a solid history with AmEx. Sounds like they’re just being conservative right now, especially since you’re already at $37k total credit with them. Even though you don’t really need more limit, it never hurts to try; at least now you know where you stand. Maybe with more time or heavier usage on the Hilton, they’ll be more open to an increase.
