AmEx Delta - downgrade vs new card

I am thinking about canceling my Delta Platinum but also considering downgrading to Delta Blue. Only thing is, if I downgrade, I would lose out on the welcome bonus (10K miles). Should I apply for the Delta Blue first or Is 10K miles not worth another credit line I don't need?

Whether or not it's worth it depends on you and your credit profile. How valuable are the points to you? How will your average age of accounts be affected? How much new credit do you have? Possible point loss if they happen to HP you. Not likely, but they've HP me before despite having cards and being SP for everything else.

Personally, I just downgraded both of mine. One of these days I'll transfer limits and maybe upgrade in the future..

Hmm. So hard. I guess I don't like the thought of losing out on a welcome bonus even if only 10K. It is almost like free points. I don't care too much about a hit to my credit profile. It is thick and can take the hit. I just don't know whether the 10K is worth adding a card I will eventually close. I kind of am leaning toward yes because..."free" points. Lol. That is IF AmEx does not again ban me from welcome bonuses as they did after I got my Delta AmEx.
