Hello all,
Recently tried for the Amazon Store Card at the tail end of an app spree. Didn't do my research first, and got denied with the sole reason of "NUMBER OF RECENT CREDIT REQUESTS AND NUMBER OF CREDIT ACCOUNTS OPENED". Whelp...
I spend about $1k/month with Amazon, so I could really use that 5% back.
When I applied, TU was at 631, with 4% utilization, AAoA at 3y8mo, 11 inquiries-6 of which were during May. 6 new accounts about to be added or now on, 5 cc/sc and 1 auto loan.
How soon could I try again, assuming my score stays where it's at or improves? My AAoA won't take too big of a hit as I've got several old loans and one cc from Chase at 17 years. I assume it's the standard 6 months, but would be applying in 3 be too soon? Or would I need to wait it out even longer with Synch being inq sensitive? I'm planning on coming out of the garden for the Amazon store card, AMEX BCE, and to refinance my auto loan(although my lender may do SP APR changes!). Maybe a CapOne Venture for travel as well.

If Synchrony Bank gave INQs and opened accounts as a denial reason, then I would wait 6-12 months before trying again. When I got Amazon 2 1/2 years ago, Synchrony was not as sensitive to those issues, so now it seems a YMMV thing. It's becoming more difficult to offer suggestions on how to proceed as the rules we once went by seem to change on a daily basis. Also, if you are interested in the BCE, I would get my scores up to at least over 680 EX to get a decent limit.

If I spend that type of money with Amazon, at this point in time, I'd be going to Chase Amazon Visa signature. Especially because of the current 10% back which is much better than synchrony....if you have an existing relationship with Chase as you said in your post, go for their card.
The Chase card is only 5%. The store card also offers the long term no interest financing for larger purchases, something I'd like to take advantage of.

That's why I decided against the chase amazon visa. Though I haven't used the no interest financing yet...
