Greetings!
I am considering applying for the Amazon Visa Card by Chase. My credit scores, shown below, are excellent as I have no debt and pretty high income. ordinarily I think my approval odds would be high, however my concern is that I got on Chase's We Don't Like You Anymore Naughty List about ten years ago. I had to do a credit card settlement with them when going through rough times. I paid them, but they "settled" for about $10K less than what I originally owed them. I know they have a very long memory and are typically not forgiving, however do we have any idea if they are any more forgiving through something like Amazon than they typically are? Would it be an instant no, or could there be a chance through a co-brand such as this?
Thanks!
Thanks, Loquat!
I love your comment of, "have absolutely no problem reminding you of it". I sure agree with that! ![]()
Not a lost cause, You paid settlement, aren't showing BK. As long as you're under 5/24, it's surely possible. Might not be a super generous limit to start.

Thanks, blindambition. I was wondering if the fact that I fully paid the settlement under the terms, if that may help a bit. I assume that is (slightly) better than just giving them the finger. ![]()
Do we know if they do a HP on all three? I current have zero inquiries across the board and wondering which ones may take a hit.
Thanks again to all!
@EW800 they aren't any more forgiving on cobranded cards then they are on core cards, but since there was at least a partial repayment, you might have a chance.
Out of curiosity, did you try prequal for random core card?

I have done the prequal routine a couple of times and it came back indicating "no offers currently available" or something similar to that. I assumed that was due to being on their naughty list.
Agree with what's been said so far. If the settlement was fulfilled to mutual satisfaction, then you should be ok to proceed forward. Chase is not necessarily more lenient just because the product is co-branded vs. a core personal or biz card. Worse case scenario, if denied (which would be doubtful in your situation OP), then the reconsideration channel should be fruitful. Try and see how this turns out👍

It will most likely be 2 pulls, but may be 1. Probably EX, and EQ or TU.
