Hello,
I'm about to reach the 1 year mark one my first CC. I wanted to see what are my approval odds for the AmazonPrime Rewards by Chase. I was denied for this card in May.
Info:
[Fico] 738, 737, 729
[Income] 35,000
[Authorized User] on Discover IT (Oct 2016)($2900), and Cap One Platinum ($750)
[My Own] Cap One Quicksilver (Oct 2017)($1600), Discover IT (Jan 2018)($2600), Amex PRG (Jan 2018)(NPSL), BofA(Aug 2018)($900)
Thanks for your help.
In my experience, the Chase Amazon card is tough to get. I have a pretty solid profile and just got a 20,000 instant approval from amex and a $40,000 approval from my credit union, but was denied the Chase Amazon card.
Go for the prime store card instead, it has the same 5% cash back and is offered by Synchrony bank. If you treat them well, they will treat you well. My card started out a few years ago at an $800 limit, they've upped me to like $7800 without ever asking for a CLI.
Isn't it one of the Chase cards that's easier to get?
With your scores I think you'd be OK as long as there aren't a huge number of inquiries. I was surprised when I apped and was instantly approved for $4100 with scores just a bit over 700 or so at the time and about 6-8 INQs on my Experian file.
Like stated above, the Sync version is a fine alternative and will grow quicker than Chase's card....or at least it has for me. Additionally the special financing options feature, to the best of my knowledge, still isn't available with the Prime Visa but is with the store card version.
May I ask which CU you are with re the 40k credit limit? Thats impressive
The Chase Amazon Prime Rewards card was my first card... I didn't know anything about credit scores and stuff, just knew I needed to start building credit when I was applying. I ended up being approved with a $500 SL. The only other things I had on my history were my federal student loans which I hadn't even started paying back yet.
Overall, I don't know if it's typically difficult to get... but I had no issue getting it on a VERY thin profile and only $8,250/yr income from SSI.
How old were you and how long ago did you get the card?
It was around my 27th birthday, 2.4 years ago.
I ended up getting this card in my most recent App apree with a score in the upper 680's, albeit with a small $500 SL. I had gotten the Sync PLCC 3 months prior to that, but it's nice having the Chase version for the 5% CB at Whole Foods.
