American Express 14 Day Message?

So, I decided to check and see if I was pre-qualified for an AMEX Card because I'm moving into a new apartment at the end of next month, and want to get a new bedroom set. American express immediately said I qualified for the following 3 cards:

  1. Blue Cash Preferred w/$350 welcome bonus and 0% APR for 12 months

  2. Cash Magnet Card w/$250 welcome bonus and 0% APR for 15 months

  3. Gold Card w/75,000 point sign on bonus, but no intro APR

I was excited to qualify for 3 really good cards, so I decided to go with the Cash Magnet Card because of the longer APR intro. However, when I submitted the application, I got a weird message:

"Thanks, Michael. We've received your application, but we can't give you a decision right now. We'll process your application as soon as possible and send you a decision within 14 days."

Does this mean I was denied? Has anyone else has experienced this, please let me know!

The splash message displayed is nothing new. Some applications may require further processing as the message stated. The results can go 50/50 depending on what their internal review may consist of. You can periodically check the AENB application status online or you can reach out to their new accounts department tomorrow (during business hours) to see whether any additional information may be needed on your application.

Not always- when I applied for both my Plat and Gold I got this message- both times they needed to verify if I was Military or not. Then instant approval. I would call them and find out what reasoning was- or check the app status online and see if you have anything there

Given that the OP created this thread in March and last month announced their success with a 91 day CLI request  (https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Approvals/AMERICAN-EXPRESS-CLI-90-DAYS/m-p/6555593) I'm sure it's a dead issue ;-)
